What Home Means to Me
Every year the Adams County Housing Authority (ACHA) collects drawings accompanied by thoughts of “What Home Means to Me” from children residing in their affordable housing developments throughout Adams County as part of the NAHRO and Housing America Campaign.
Since 2007 ACHA has participated in this event where children have the opportunity to express their creativity and thoughts by drawing a picture and writing an essay of up to 100 words on what home means to them. Contests are held at the state level with the winners then competing at the National level in three categories: Elementary School, Middle School and High School. Each year 12 winners are selected from around the country where their entries are used to create the 12 monthly pages of the annual Housing America Calendar.
ACHA and LIFE are hosting a book drive to help combat the summer slide. If you are in the Greater Denver Metro area and would like to donate a gently used book or two we'd love to take them off your hands for a great purpose. Drop box locations are: 3CE, 5115 Federal Blvd #28, Denver, CO 80221 or at ACHA's home office at 4430 S. Adams County Parkway Ste. W5000OA, Brighton, CO 80601.
